Neil has over 20 years’ experience as an investor in the private equity sector, specialising in funding management buyouts and development capital for fast growing small companies.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Neil joined private equity house, Murray Johnstone and subsequently Aberdeen Asset Management, following their acquisition of Murray Johnstone in 2000. From 2005 to 2009, Neil was the Investment Director responsible for Aberdeen’s Growth Capital team in the South of England. He predominantly focused on investments, typically in the £1m to £5m range, in small and medium sized companies across a broad range of sectors.
Neil has a depth of experience in both sourcing and negotiating investments for investors, including Venture Capital Trusts, other funds and co-investors. He has also been closely involved in the nurturing and monitoring of portfolio investments and has served on the boards of over 20 portfolio companies.
Neil holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Glasgow University and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. His early career was spent with Ernst & Young in Glasgow and KPMG in Brussels and Antwerp.
